Some Red Bull advertisements have been deemed inappropriate by the Advertising Standards Board and have been banned from airing.

Watchdog deems Red Bull strip-club ad unfit

"Red Bull's wings have been clipped by the advertising standards watchdog after it aired an animated TV commercial depicting a child at a strip club.

The energy drink manufacturer pulled the ad after leaving viewers fizzing over concerns it sexualised children, undermined parental authority and could even upset the RSPCA.

The cartoon features a boy asking his mum if he can go to a strip club, but is told: "When pigs fly".

Unbeknown to the mother, her son had fed his pigs the sweet energy drink, which has a marketing slogan "Red Bull gives you wings".

The pigs begin to fly and the boy gets his way, with the final scene showing him at a strip club with stocking-clad strippers' legs visible.

One viewer griped that a child being allowed to go to a strip club was "totally inappropriate" not to mention illegal, and the ad glorified "poor motherly role models".

Others said it was demeaning to women, and the RSPCA might object to animals being given energy drinks.

In its ruling, the Advertising Standards Board found the strip club scene breached the code as it normalised the sexualisation of children...."
