Georgia Rowe, a 35-year-old national sales manager, is bright, gregarious and loves her life. Oh, and she's single. Rowe says many of her married friends see her lack of a partner as a problem that needs to be fixed. They just can't deal with the fact she's happy being unattached. It's a common irritant for singles who are becoming louder and prouder. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics there are now more than 5.8 million singles in Australia - approximately 35 per cent of the adult population. Australia's single households are also on the increase. In 2001, there were 1.8 million single households and that figure is estimated to grow as much as 105 per cent by 2026 to about 3.7 million.
