"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning."
C.S. Lewis

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." CS Lewis
Today I present to you three Christian Blogs that a worth a regular visit. The three I have endorsed show a strong commitment to staying Biblically accurate and vary between discussing theology and social issues.
Kevin Swanson
Kevin runs a website called Generations with Vision. This site, and its creator, seek to "present life from the perspective of a biblical worldview and within the framework of a relational model of living". Kevin regularly writes articles and blogs but the appeal is in the extensive media section connected to his ministry. Not only does he have a vast radio program but he also has his own Vimeo Channel that comprises over 340 videos. Kevin has a great understanding about the topics he talks about and it is very engrossing to hear him discuss his views with various guests. Here is a small sample to whet your appetite:

Albert Mohler
Rev. Mohler is a giant of the conservative Christian movement in America, which is perhaps why I appreciate his writings so much. Albert Mohler is the President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and, as such, his opinion holds some clout. I consider Mohler as the leading voice on American social issues and, despite his other numerous commitments Mohler regularly pens articles for his website. There are also podcasts available to listen to. Mohler always approaches issues with a clear perspective allowing the reader, regardless of background, to grasp any issue that he is discussing. He has a jovial tone and speaks with great authority. Make sure you check out his self-titled website.

Kevin DeYoung
DeYoung is a relative new-comer to evangelical circles but he has already made a strong mark. He is the Senior Pastor at a Reformed Church in Michigan and involved in the Gospel Coalition, where his website resides. Kevin has also tried his hand at writing/editing some book titles and has released two books this year What is the Mission of the Church? and Don't Call It A Comeback (which he co-wrote). The latter is especially impressive and combines several young Christian thinkers discussing many core features of Christianity. Kevin DeYoung is probably best known for his articulate response to Rob Bell's book Love Wins. Ironically this review is much more extensive than the 224 page book he was reviewing.

The Compass Bible Church has been banned from showing an advertisement in cinema previews because the clip mentions Jesus. Despite having paid for the short promo the cinema refused to run the advertisement.

“The atheism I had embraced for so long buckled under the weight of historical truth.”
The Case for Christ, written by Lee Strobel, is a powerful and compelling book of one man’s search for the answers to the ultimate question: is there a God? While this is an individual’s journey of self-discovery the questions asked by Lee Strobel are pertinent to all humans.
There is substantial proof for Jesus being the answer given in this book, “eyewitness evidence, documentary evidence, corroborating evidence, rebuttal evidence, scientific evidence, psychological evidence, circumstantial evidence, and yes, even fingerprint evidence”. This evidence is presented in thirteen interviews between Lee Strobel and the “who’s who” of theology. The case is built methodically as the reader is taken from one central subject of theology to another. From Jesus’s very sanity to the empty tomb no stone is left unturned.
The key to this book is its simplicity. Written by a journalist, from an investigative perspective The Case for Christ is accessible to everybody. The book flows in an easy-to-read fashion with each point expanded naturally from the previous one. The book raises and attempts to answer many of the most pertinent questions of humanity and provides references if the reader wishes to do some investigations of their own.
In spite of this there are some weaknesses to this book. 367 pages limit the extent to the expansion of each topic and sometimes the reader is left feeling like a question may be only half-answered. Despite Lee Strobel claiming he feels the evidence is overwhelming I found myself wishing that those experts of theology could develop their theories before I was swept in another direction.
The Case for Christ is a great platform for Christians and non-Christians alike. It raises awareness and provides strong evidence for a faith in God. This is a good book for someone who has only begun delving into theology. However, there are more comprehensive books with better structure and substance such as I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist which I will review in the coming weeks.
Theological heavyweights Don Carson, John Piper and Tim Keller discuss how to prioritise ministries of mercy (i.e. assisting the poor, poverty outreach) versus evangelism.

I have three examples for you today of the Church falling by the wayside as other worldviews overwhelm this nation.
The first is a reasonably well-known example. Adelaide is known as the city of churches. However, in recent years there have been several documented arrests of street preachers for “breaching the peace”. In theory, such an action should be deemed unconstitutional because of the freedom of religion clause (section 116). In reality the interpretation of this section of the constitution does not occur in this way.
Instead the police are able to waste tax-payers money arresting Adelaide’s street preachers only for these bung charges to be defeated later on. This oppression signifies an atheistic movement to quash truth and undermine the biblical worldview. For an American example of similar proportions read the article the four arrested at the Arab Festival.
“Without DNA there is no self-replication but without self-replication there is no natural selection, so you can’t use natural selection to explain the origin of DNA without assuming the existence of the very thing you are trying to explain.” Dr Stephen Meyer
This hour long DVD presentation provides the viewer with a plausible alternative explanation to evolution from a scientific and, in particular, biological perspective. The findings are arrived at by a smattering of scientists of the calibre of Dr Stephen Meyer (geophysicist), Dr Dean Kenyon (biophysicist), Dr Michael Behe (biochemist) and Dr Dembski (mathematician) to name but a few. The DVD centres on the question of where did we come from? And to answer this question these scientists delve into their respective fields to deal with Darwinism and natural selection. Many of the scientists in this film express dissatisfaction with the natural selection explanation arguing that there are examples from life where natural selection is shown to not work or at least be very implausible. One such example outlined is that of the flagellum motor that exists within certain bacteria. The premise that is reached is that this motor represents something that is irreducibly complex, that is, could not have evolved naturally. This DVD seeks to present and exploit a significant flaw in Darwin’s theory. Namely the lack of an explanation as to the actual origins of life. This omission is argued to undermine the whole theory of evolution and pushed these scientists to an intellectual breaking point and instead by observing the facts they were lead to the theory of intelligent design. This presentation sets out many difficult scientific principles in logical and easy-to-understand steps that support the ultimate claim of intelligent design. For this reason alone this DVD provides Christians with a counter argument that can be used to oppose evolution. While this position has, in large, been refuted by atheist scientists further research by the scientists involved in this presentation provide rebuttals and enhancement of the ideas mentioned. This is a highly contentious topic and this DVD merely touches on many claims and further research is advised to have a more solid scientific position. However, as an introduction into the debate of evolution versus intelligent design this DVD is a great launching platform.
