“Without DNA there is no self-replication but without self-replication there is no natural selection, so you can’t use natural selection to explain the origin of DNA without assuming the existence of the very thing you are trying to explain.” Dr Stephen Meyer
This hour long DVD presentation provides the viewer with a plausible alternative explanation to evolution from a scientific and, in particular, biological perspective. The findings are arrived at by a smattering of scientists of the calibre of Dr Stephen Meyer (geophysicist), Dr Dean Kenyon (biophysicist), Dr Michael Behe (biochemist) and Dr Dembski (mathematician) to name but a few. The DVD centres on the question of where did we come from? And to answer this question these scientists delve into their respective fields to deal with Darwinism and natural selection. Many of the scientists in this film express dissatisfaction with the natural selection explanation arguing that there are examples from life where natural selection is shown to not work or at least be very implausible. One such example outlined is that of the flagellum motor that exists within certain bacteria. The premise that is reached is that this motor represents something that is irreducibly complex, that is, could not have evolved naturally. This DVD seeks to present and exploit a significant flaw in Darwin’s theory. Namely the lack of an explanation as to the actual origins of life. This omission is argued to undermine the whole theory of evolution and pushed these scientists to an intellectual breaking point and instead by observing the facts they were lead to the theory of intelligent design. This presentation sets out many difficult scientific principles in logical and easy-to-understand steps that support the ultimate claim of intelligent design. For this reason alone this DVD provides Christians with a counter argument that can be used to oppose evolution. While this position has, in large, been refuted by atheist scientists further research by the scientists involved in this presentation provide rebuttals and enhancement of the ideas mentioned. This is a highly contentious topic and this DVD merely touches on many claims and further research is advised to have a more solid scientific position. However, as an introduction into the debate of evolution versus intelligent design this DVD is a great launching platform. Click here to purchase a copy.
