"Pansexual" is likely not a term that many people know. Whether or not it gets added to other "sexual identities" remains to be seen. Regardless pansexuality will no doubt rear its head in the coming future.

This week in Texas politician Mary Gonzalez has revealed herself to be pansexual. Originally describing herself as lesbian Gonzalez has changed her description to this unusual sexual identity. So what is pansexual? Well atheist and sex blogger Laci Green explains it this way:

Pansexuality - Gender blind - "You experience attraction regardless of gender or sex"

We are likely to see more people describing themselves as a pansexual. Primarily this will be because it is a much more "freeing" term than bi-sexual (which it mimics in many ways). Many people do not like having to conform to any identity category so pansexuality operates as an all-encompassing blanket. Yet pansexuality is just another method we have created to throw away any semblance of normal sexuality.

In the video above Green ironically states that only the individual can decide whether they are pansexual or bisexual. Of course, any discussion of choice in regards to homosexuality is abruptly shouted down with no explanation. It is typical that people will gravitate and argue for freedom of sexual expression in an act of disobedience. More and more the world is conforming to the idea that "everything is permissible" and our sexual identity is what defines us. We are like a child that plays with the valuable toy without reading the manual. As we distort and break the toy the creator looks on with disappointment. We do not deserve the present we were given.
